## Key facts

- What it is: a story-based English extensive-reading (多読 tadoku) web app with original, leveled, illustrated books, full audio, comprehension questions after every book, vocabulary tracking and progress reports for parents. Available today at Eiken 5: Mukashi Prep (40 first books with phonics) and the first world, Cosy House (14 books). The full program, from Eiken 5 to Eiken Grade 2, is planned at 200+ books across 10+ worlds, and new worlds open as it grows: a new world about every month, with new stories most weeks.
- Audience: primarily elementary-school children (ages 6–12); suitable from age 4 with a parent. Designed for home use and for juku, English schools and primary schools.
- Complete beginners: Mukashi Prep (ムカシ・プレップ), with phonics plus 40 first books for children with no English yet, is included in every plan.
- Levels: progress follows the Eiken (英検) framework. Every child starts at Eiken 5 and travels, world by world, toward Eiken Grade 2. Eiken is the progress measure rather than the purpose: Mukashi helps with the tests, but it teaches English by reading.
- Family plan (The Cottage / コテージ): ¥1,980 per month or ¥19,800 per year, tax included. Siblings: ¥1,480 per month (¥14,800 per year) from the second child. Everything included, no extra charges. Cancel any time from the dashboard; access continues to the end of the paid period.
- School plan (学校・教室向けプラン): annual contracts from 5 students, tax included, graduated per-student pricing: ¥1,980 per student per month for students 1–10, ¥1,580 for students 11–20, ¥1,380 for students 21–50; 51 or more by arrangement. Annual payment, or two installments (April and October) on request. Includes a teacher dashboard, whole-class shared reading, printable lesson plans and class-code login (students sign in at mukashi.world/student).
- Try it free: the demo on the home page is the real reading app, with no signup. It has three doors: five Mukashi Prep books for children brand new to English, five Cosy House books for children who already know a little, and Tanuki's phonics game. Schools can request one free two-week classroom trial: ten Mukashi Prep books and ten Cosy House books, every feature and the full teacher dashboard, with their real class.
- Platforms: a web app that runs in any modern browser: tablets including iPad, computers and smartphones; larger screens give the fullest experience. There is no App Store or Google Play app to download; it can be added to the home screen to run full-screen. An internet connection is needed (no offline mode yet).
- Privacy: no advertising, no ad tracking, no sale of data. The database and application servers are in Japan (Tokyo). Payment is by credit card via Stripe.
- Free printables: 14 English coloring pages (one English word each) and 4 A4 letter-paper templates from the worlds of the stories, free for home and classroom use (please do not redistribute or sell the files).
- Operator: Mukashi, a small studio operated from Japan.
